About your teacher
Carmen Davidson
Carmen teaches adult ballet in Napier: a Monday class for beginner to intermediate dancers and a Thursday class for absolute beginners. She trained with the Royal Academy of Dance in London, where she earned the Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies.
She also holds a diploma in diagnostic radiography from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town. That background shows in her teaching. She thinks about how your joints, spine and balance work, and she adapts the steps to the body in front of her.
She is also a Dance for PD® instructor and has run NeuroDance classes in Napier since 2017, for people living with Parkinson's and other neurological conditions.

How the adult classes are taught
These are ballet classes built for adult bodies. The warm-up at the barre is unhurried, every step is explained along with its French name, and there is an alternative for any movement that doesn't suit your knees, hips or back.
Beginners and returning dancers each have their own night, so nobody is rushed and nobody is held back. The two adult ballet classes run on Monday and Thursday evenings in Onekawa.
Trained by the Royal Academy of Dance
The Royal Academy of Dance in London is one of the largest dance teaching organisations in the world, and its Diploma in Dance Teaching Studies is a professional qualification for ballet teachers.
Combined with a health background in radiography, it means your classes are taught with both technique and safety in mind. New to ballet? Here is what to expect at your first class.

“The freedom of moving to inspiring music is yours for the taking.”
